Thats the final logo for our production company. After playing around with it I decided to go for something really simple, which could be easily animated in the future.

GOOD FOR GOODNESS SAKE: notes/cause symbol

After changing the group I got to know that guy’s original idea was to walk children to school. Last minute we decided to change our idea for something more suitable and more realistic to distribute and promote. Our new cause is surrounding the health of the youngest children. We want to encourage them to eat healthier and let them know of the risks connected to eating things like fast food and candies. Our cause logo changed and we needed to make it more playful and suitable for the new idea. Its eye catching and I think the kids will love it.

GROUP SYMBOL/PARAGRAPH/WORD

After changing my group,my tribe symbol changed as well. This is the new one.

PARAGRAPH
A health mix of partying, creative endeavor and adventure are our core group qualities. A strong sense of humor is integral to our success. We strive to be as efficient as possible in our lives and while family and friends are very important, we value making money in order to travel and eat well.

SENTENCE
We believe and value a number of qualities and are passionate about achieving a healthy balance throughout our daily lives.

WORD
Passion

The old cause symbol was:

We wanted to embed the “personal touch” in our cause, thats why we chose to show a finger print within a leaf.

Some ideas for my previous tribes group symbol, which never got developed more, because the tribe stopped existing.

TEACHERS “PORTRAITS”
As it can be clearly seen, even after making 6 “portraits” I didn’t master the technique. To be honest I was getting extremely frustrated during this exercise and it’s pretty obvious that the most challenging part for me was the skintone. I guess I won’t be a proffesional “mini pixel portrait” designer after all :)

ROAD SIGNS EXERCISE
Our task was to come up with symbols for already existing road signs. It was a very mind stimulating exercise and showed me different ways of looking on ordinary things.

SYMBOL OF REVOLUTION

The funny looking hat, resembling something stolen from a garden dwarf is actually called Bonnet rouge and is a symbol for supporters of French Revolution in the 18th century. It became a well known symbol of revolution and is recognized until now. It’s worn by France’s emblem, the figure of Marianne.

WEEK 5/6 - symbols which meaning changed with time

Iron cross- it originated from the cross borne by Teutonic Knights in the 14th century but during times of Hitlers reign it became the symbol of the german army

Fig sign- in some part of the world its considered a good omen but in others like for example France,Turkey and Greece its very rude to show it. In Poland we call the gesture “fig with poppy seeds” (I know, doesn’t make sense) and it basically means “nothing”, so when someone for example asks you if you’ve done your homework and you make the fig sign, they know that you haven’t done it. Its not a popular gesture anymore though.

“OK” sign- in most places it just means “ok”, “fine” but for example in Brazil and Germany they perceive it as an anus and use the sign to insult people by indicating that they are assholes or homosexuals.

Thumbs up- in western cultures its a positive sign, indicating mostly a well done job. In most Latin America and West Africa as well as Greece, Russia, Sardinia and south of Italy it basically means “fuck you”. In the Middle East its considered the biggest insult and in countries like Germany its used to show “number one”.
